People using the “N-Word” a.k.a. “Nigger” on social media.

We are updating this description to clarify that this is merely an archive of evidence indicating that some people have used the n-word on social media and not intended as a label calling anyone the n-word. We feel the need to clarify that after an allegedly black man accused us of labeling him a n-word due to our bot catching him using the n-word. He seemed to think or at least claim that the category link text were somehow a label regardless of anything else on the page. That simply is not the case. Anybody that actually takes the time to click on the link or learn anything about this site should learn quite quickly that this is only an aggregator of other people quoted correctly.

As for the claim that pages should be taken down if the person caught using the n-word is black, we are not going to institute a racist removal policy which gives preference to certain groups for certain words based on their ethnicity or any other protected characteristic. In our opinion nobody should be using the n-word no matter what they look like.

We are not alone in our position that everyone should be discouraged from using the n-word regardless of their race. In 2007 the New York City Counsel banned use of the word, but the ordinance was symbolic without any penalty. Media coverage indicates that black people were the primary target of the ordinance citing desires to discourage use of the word in hip hop songs, movies, and in public. Source: The Guardian.

Plus, thanks to people like Rachel Dolezal there really is no way to know for sure what race somebody is just by looking at them, listening to them, or asking what race they are. It would be racist for us to look at someone and just assume they’re black because of how they look, act, or even what race they claim to be.

The fewer people out there using the n-word the better. If that means you can never feel safe saying it online again because you’re afraid of it ending up here just don’t say it. We are not about to implement a highly inefficient manual review process dedicated solely to guessing the ethnicity of people based on profile pics for the sole purpose of determining if they’re part of a group that should be given special treatment when caught saying something nobody should say in the first place.
